Heat pump as standard
Every Model Y uses a heat pump. One compressor and a set of valves heat and cool both the cabin and the battery, so an AC problem can also affect charging on hot days.

Close to the Model 3
The Model Y shares much of its drivetrain and electronics with the Model 3, but it is heavier and sits higher, which loads the suspension more.

16V battery on newer cars
Newer Model Y cars use a 16V lithium-ion low-voltage battery. After replacement it must be reset and configured before the car accepts it.

The Model Y at EV Zone
The Model Y is Tesla’s mid-size SUV. Its size and weight put more load on the suspension than the Model 3, and its heat pump makes the AC circuit part of battery cooling, so both deserve attention in a UAE summer.
Many of the jobs below also apply to the Model 3, which shares much of the same hardware.

Questions owners ask
Why does my Model Y knock over speed bumps?
Worn control-arm bushes, ball joints or anti-roll bar links are common causes on a heavy SUV. A clunk when pulling away is more often the drive-unit bushes. Both need checking before a part is replaced.
Can you replace the 16V battery on a Model Y?
Yes. We replace it and carry out the reset and configuration the car needs afterwards. See 12V and 16V battery.
My Model Y cools poorly when parked. Why?
With the car still, only the fans move air through the condenser, so dust in the condenser or a low refrigerant charge shows up first in traffic or while charging. See AC and heat pump repair.
